Gina stood up and slammed her palms down on the desk. The ratty looking little man sitting behind it slid his chair back a few inches. "I'm sorry, Gina. Maybe if you hadn't broken Adonis's arm in rehearsals..."
"The son of a bitch tried to pinch my ass. He deserved it."
"Ahem. Still, he does have top billing, and that little stunt delayed production on Arena VII for six weeks. You're lucky they didn't sue you, on top of dropping you."
"You told me that contract was golden, Jimmy, solid for at least a season!"
"They exercised the "undisclosed medical condition" clause."
"Huh?" Gina's face twisted in confusion.
"You're a mutant, Gina."
"Well, no shit, Jimmy. But they knew that. And I wasn't even powered up when it happened!"
"I'm sorry, babe."
"What am I gonna do now? I've got rent, a car payment, I've got bills, Jimmy!" She sat back down hard in the metal folding chair. It creaked alarmingly. She rested her forehead on the edge of the desk.
"All is not lost, babe. Look what I've got for you." Jimmy slid open a drawer and pulled out a manilla folder. He slid it across to her. Gina picked it up and started scanning it, then exploded again.
"Mutant Hotties Strip Revue?!! What the hell is this, Jimmy?!"
"It's a job, babe. And they're real, real interested in you. They said they'd pay $100 extra if you'd melt your clothes off as part of your act."
"What kinda girl do you think I am?" She leaned forward, threateningly. The air around her began to shimmer, a sure sign that she was about to change form.
Jimmy slid back even further and raised his hands. "Calm down, babe! A lot of really famous actresses got their start this way!"
"I'm a freakin' LADY." She stood up straight, reached down, grabbed the folder, and ripped it into pieces. "Screw you, and screw this whole state. I'm outta here."
